Although not everyone has made the switch to lasers (a topic we will save for later), we at Academy Appraisal, Inc have embraced this technology. Not only are lasers much more accurate than the typical hand measuring device, they allow our appraisers to quickly and efficiently complete the measurement of even the largest properties with ease. The purpose of today’s blog is to discuss the pros and cons of two distinct types of lasers we have at the office. Currently, after a quick survey, most of our appraisers use Leica brand lasers. There are a few examples above, the newest being the Disto X4 and the oldest being the Disto D5. The unique thing about the newer X4 is its ability to display what the laser is hitting on the screen via a camera. This is especially helpful outside when attempting to get exterior measurements and looking to a hit a precise spot like a drain pipe at a longer distance where the red dot is no longer visible. All the lasers within our portfolio are extremely accurate so there is no difference there. The one downside we have found to the X4 is due to its advanced function, it depletes batteries rather quickly, where the older models without the camera function have a much longer battery life. For us, it becomes about preference in this scenario as both types of lasers are excellent tools that allow Academy Appraisal, Inc. to provide high quality service and quick turn times in Bucks County, Berks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Lehigh County, Montgomery County, Northampton County, Philadelphia County, Burlington County, Camden County, Gloucester County and Mercer County!

We are proud to expand our commercial department to New Jersey! We have been serving four counties in New Jersey in a residential capacity for over 35 years and are now offering our commercial services in these areas as well. Camden, Gloucester, Mercer and Burlington counties can now expect the same great residential service on the commercial side as well!
