Delaware County Named for the Delaware River, Delaware County is one of 67 counties in Pennsylvania.  Delco, a fast-growing county located just southwest of the city of Philadelphia, has 49 unique municipalities with a total population of 565,328 (2020 census). The county is home to 11 colleges and universities including Villanova University, Haverford College and Penn State Brandywine Campus.

Delaware County is the heart of the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington, PA-NJ-DE-MD (Delaware Valley) Metropolitan Statistical Area. This Metropolitan Area ranks 6th most populous in the United States. 

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 191 square miles (490 km2), of which 184 square miles (480 km2) is land and 6.8 square miles (18 km2) (3.5%) is water. It is the third-smallest county in Pennsylvania by area.
